If 0 cuils is hyper reality, and normal humans live their lives in a bracket of 0 to 1 cuil, is it possible that people with Autism, who often have no filtering mechanism for information, are at a 0 cuil level? This is based on the assumption that human perception distorts the reality of any situation.
An interesting idea. It would mean that evolutionarily, surrealistic thought patterns were actually useful for social interaction and, subsequently, the survival of the species.
Being an Aspergian(form of autism), I can actually agree to this with a significant degree of certainty, but with a slight alteration to your original hypothesis. Aspergians; by nature, experience the world almost entirely based on logic, what they can -directly- observe, and its significance. While we can directly observe something at a 0 Cuil level, we actually end up processing the information on the Negative scale of 0 to 1, where we try to make the information as accurate as possible.
The thing is 0‽ is not the hyper-reality. 0‽ is reality as it is and a standart person cannot reach it, yes.
We define -∞‽ as the perfect hyper-reality.
1‽ is a standart person's perception of reality.
I think pH34r's post titled "A Standart For Cuil" is useful about this.
No, even more accurately, we observe the world on two separate scales. Autistic individuals cannot, and will not process their own present observations, until a reference point is given. At this point, the person will automatically seek out the nearest external reference, another human or machine as the strongest preference, and attempt to reason their own observations. The observation of another is then taken, and automatically assumed by the individual, as absolute truth, or 0 Cuil, whether or not the other person thinks so as well. From this point forward, the individual will take additional information, and attempt to make their current viewpoint more accurate to any others. They have no base reference point of their own, they will continue to accept external influence wholly and completely, as if the whole goddamn world was just one giant logical reason.
From the aspie perspective:
At 1‽ — 1‽ was never observed, a human showed up, and offered one that did. The first observation becomes 0, and the second becomes 1. Processing can begin. There is a tree outside your window, with it's branches covered in green leaves, swaying in the breeze.
0‽ - The human offered his observation that there is a tree outside your window, with it's branches covered in green leaves, swaying in the breeze.
-1‽ - The leaves are of an incredibly vibrant green, so much that it may even seem painful to your eyes. Painfully, and beautifully green. Its branches numbered as exponents superimposed across your normal vision, counting the number of first branches, second, third, and going on to sixth. These were nonsensical to your presently simple mind, they danced amusingly over your eyes, without any apparent meaning.
-2‽(Further reinforced, a few more humans give their observation) - You can no longer focus on the leaves, their color so bright and intense, that you start to wonder why the others could see them. Maybe this is a new shade of green that only you can perceive, super-green? The numbers showed across your eyes more clearly, you can understand them now, there are exactly 127859 branches on the tree, and that number will increase by 12 within one year. Off in the distance, a radio can be heard; it sounds close, but actually sits three miles down the road on it's minimum volume. The first human never heard this radio, but you assume he did, because his observation was considered true, and so were the others. As the second person said that his clothes were uncomfortably dry; cotton according to the tag that you saw, yours suddenly became uncomfortable as well. They SHOULD be uncomfortable, as they are also made of cotton. The wind in the tree branches can now be seen as a mathematical Vector; like the ones you learned in algebra and science, you can now trace the path of the wind, based on how it weaves through the branches and leaves, on how it moves them, the amount of force, even its direction are yours to peruse.
From an aspie's perspetive,
-3‽ - your mind is now more open. You are so aware of the universe and your surroundings, that you can understand the very formulas that you yourself used entirely by instinct. You are now aware that you are different, but you can't quite understand why. You don't need to see the green leaves any more intense then the humans, so why should you? Yet you cannot change them; yet, so they remain in their present state. The world now frustrates you, yet still you want to know more. Perhaps the fields of math, science, physics, and computers have finally piqued your interest? They seem to be more accurate then simple human perceptions, and so you feel yourself drawn instinctively to these. NO, this is not instinct, this is YOU, you were always meant to do this. The radio now holds significance, but doesn't at the same time, and you anxiously struggle to find out why.
-4‽ - You are now aware that someone on an internet forum is discussing you, talking as if they were you. They ARE you, and you are them. There is a tree outside, and you know exactly how you view it, alongside how ALL other humans are capable of viewing it, yet you still cannot default to any true decision. You know there is someone else listening to the radio, at least two hundred actually, as you are now listening to the broadcast itself, as if your ears were also radios. ALL possible broadcasts are heard at once, you cannot default to a single one. You cannot decide which one to listen to, who's perception is real, so you begin to reject all of them. Humans are illogical, they are clearly not viewing the world as accurately as they need to be, so you no longer need them to understand. Maybe you do on some trivial societal scale, but you no longer care, and can no longer accept this.
